Music: one of the loves of my life

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe.” – Plato

Music is something I love, and hold near and dear to my heart.

Side note: I actually played piano for many years of my life, but to my mom’s dismay, I didn’t stick with it. I can still play fairly well, but probably not as well as I should be able to after all the lessons I had in the past….sorry mom (:

Anyway, ask anyone who knows me… especially anyone who has been in a car with me. I know thousands of lyrics, artists, song names etc. Something about knowing all the words to a song excites me. Rap in particular is my favorite genre. Getting every word right in a rap song is quite an accomplishment if you ask me. My boyfriend likes music, but he doesn’t seem to care as much about being able to recite the words as much as I do, so it must just be a me thing. (I know there are others out there who enjoy it as much as I do though(;  Not just the words though, but the music itself makes me so happy. I’m sure anyone can relate. We all have those songs that when they come on you just can’t help but turn the volume up, and sing your heart out, or dance your butt off.

Another side note: My mom always told my siblings and I that dancing was basically the answer to everything and anything. Yeah, she cray, I know. But I will never forget to dance it out for as long as I shall live haha

In my application to a school back when I was applying to colleges, one of the questions was a very broad & free to interpret question. It was “name your top 10″….top 10 anything. What did I name? I named my top 10 favorite rappers. Jay-z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West, J-Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Biggie, Snoop Dogg. No Particular order, except Jay-Z is my #1 always.

This spring, April 8th to be exact, Lil Wayne is coming to MY school!!!! I couldn’t believe it. Idk how they got him, but idc. I just know I could not be more excited. My boyfriend, along with another friend of mine are going to visit that weekend. Should be lit. lol. Just so you know how much I love Lil Wayne, I will share with you that I had a cardboard cutout of him (life size) in my room for a few years. I got it for Christmas…hands down the best gift I ever received.

With each blog post, I would like to try to relate it to fitness in some way, so with this one, I am going to share some of my favorite workout playlist songs. (Mostly rap songs, some other stuff…btw I STRONGLY DISLIKE COUNTRY MUSIC…so apologizes to the country music fans).

  1. hi Rebecca and thank you for the follow; helluva journey that resonates because of what my daughter went through. She was healthy at 18, took a gap year before uni and took up running – like you she’s as competitive as all Harry and lost weight, liked it, went to uni, got stressed as first years can, found controlling eating and exercise a great mind settling combo and got ill; now, like you she’s in a great spot but aware of the demons that can revisit at any time; she’s 24 now and graduates as a vet this year so lots to celebrate.
as a crusty old blogger can i make a couple of suggestions. One is enable comments on your about page; even if you moderate them. People who you follow like to say thanks and do so often on an about page rather than on a post; seems to be the way. Second its great you have sharing buttons for twitter etc, but if you have a twitter account add it to the link (wordpress will do that for you so it happens automatically). that way when anyone shares a post it immediately goes to your twitter feed and others you know will see it.
Finally we bloggers love exposure so if you are on facebook (huh? your 19, like whatever??!) try this https://www.facebook.com/groups/1803804546533912/ suzie who administers it has to approve you joining the group but when you do you’ll find all sorts of other blogs who will both give great advice about blogging but also repost stuff and help with visibility; there are others out there but you’ll soon find them.
    Have fun!
